This promotion was started in New Jersey in 1999 by Ricky Otazu. It premiered specially mixed martial arts, shoot-style matches, and hardcore wrestling.

Jersey Championship Wrestling (JCW) which is now known as GCW was Founded by Ricky Otazu. He remained under him till 2015 and then it was sold to Danny Demanto and it rebranded with the name Game Changer Wrestling. Ricky was the founder of this independent promotion and that owner, gave a ring name to him, Ricky O. This company emerged from New Jersey and premiered various outclass events. It hosted the Jersey J-cup and after that, it started to get famous and gain viewership at the international level. It runs various events based in New Jersey and also in various states of the US.
